What kind of hearing problems are common after impulsive noise exposure?

First you will hear some noise in your ears or one ear (temporary tinnitus), you will hear somewhat worse (temporary threshold shift) and you will be more sensitive for sound with high frequencies. Some will also feel some pain in the ear. After a fewhours up to a couple of days your hearing will come back. Not completely but you will not bother too much. The temporary tinnitus will disappear, if you are lucky. Normally the tinnitus sound changes in character (frequency and level), but does not disappear. The increased sensitivity to normally sound, with high frequencies, is often correlated to the tinnitus problems.
